More Testing for High School Students?

It is difficult for me to even imagine that more testing would be considered for high school students. When will it ever be enough?
I am not against thoughtful, effective, summative assessment. There is tremendous value and assessment is a critical component for effective curriculum and instruction. I argue that it is curriculum and instruction that is truly the heart of effective teaching and learning. Assessment is a tool to determine what we have accomplished through teaching and learning. It should never be the gatekeeper or punishment that it has become for so many students.

Mobile Computing and Literacy Learning

Mobile learning with IPads and ITouch, for example, are already impacting classroom learning. Some large school districts are already creating apps that are powerful teaching and learning tools. Mobile computing is already impacting how our students learn. There are several school districts that are taking the lead for the implementation of mobile computing in the classroom.
