You’ll start by taking a macro‐level view of standards and assessment as you consider large‐scale student assessment initiatives. And, then you’ll examine the impact of the standards in your classroom.

Get a handle on homework. Katie presents the most recent research on the effectiveness of homework at the middle‐ school level. You’ll analyze and reflect on your own attitudes toward homework. And, you’ll observe and practice study skills and homework strategies that promote critical thinking and encourage students to internalize what they have learned in content area courses.
