The Interdisciplinary Literacy Tools for Content Area Teachers
Teachers, Grades 6-12
Students must develop literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language) in order to access, learn, and comprehend. This session will provide many tools and strategies that teachers in all content areas can use to develop student literacy skills in content area classes. Based on Katie’s (2014) books: Common Core Literacy for ELA, History/Social Studies, and the Humanities: Strategies to Deepen Content Knowledge (Grades 6-12) and Common Core Literacy for Math, Science, and Technical Subjects: Strategies to Deepen Content Knowledge (Grades 6-12).
